I think the heartbreak of September 11 – America’s grief not only over the loss of life but also the loss of our own innocence – has expanded us as people because it has tenderized our hearts. On a psychological level, the American people have matured as a result of that awful day.

People on a spiritual

People on a spiritual path – personal growth, spiritual practice, recovery, yoga and so forth – are the last people who should be sitting out the social and political issues of our day.

One day I looked

One day I looked at something in myself that I had been avoiding because it was too painful. Yet once I did, I had an unexpected surprise. Rather than self-hatred, I was flooded with compassion for myself because I realized the pain necessary to develop that coping mechanism to begin with.

I wanted to live the life

I wanted to live the life, a different life. I didn’t want to go to the same place every day and see the same people and do the same job. I wanted interesting challenges.
